“Mom!”
“Oh, and I’ll go to your school, too. You’re thirty. What are you still studying for?”
“You know I do what I say. If you push me too far, I’ll put up a banner outside your school and advertise you. I’m retired now, after all. I have all the time in the world.”
“Mom!”

Scene Two:
“Well, well, going on another blind date?”
Zhang Leling glared at her obnoxiously smug boss, Fan Yuchen. “What’s it to you?”
“Nothing. I just want to watch the fun.”
“Are you mad? At your age, getting angry is bad for you. But take my advice: stop being so picky, or you’ll end up single for the rest of your life.”
“Get lost!”
Fan Yuchen said, “Why get lost? Come work overtime! Nothing feels better than money!”

One day, while attending a lecture at her school, Zhang Leling spotted her five-years-younger, obnoxiously smug boss sitting among the panel of experts and looking right at her. After the lecture, he even called on her to answer a question.

“Honey, hug me. I miss you.”
“Weren’t you supposed to be working overtime? What are you doing here?”
“Honey, the baby in your belly says it misses me.”
