Ironclad Yashan: A Comeback from the Brink

At the end of the War of Resistance Against Japan, Li Yunlong, commander of an independent regiment, and Zhao Gang, its political commissar, transmigrate by chance to Yashan in the sixth month of the first year of the Xiangxing era, taking the places of Zhang Shijie and Lu Xiufu. Faced with one crisis after another, the two divide the work and join forces, bringing the spirit of “Dare to Draw the Sword” to bear. They tackle the problems facing Yashan while choosing Guangzhou as their breakthrough point. Zhang Shijie, now inhabited by Li Yunlong, uses his modern military knowledge to ambush and destroy Li Heng’s forces in the Three Gorges of the Bei River, then outmaneuvers and wipes out Zhang Hongfan’s troops in Huizhou. Once the situation has stabilized, the two work together to rebuild the government, economy, and military. They break through another three-pronged siege by the Yuan army, establish a foothold in Guangdong, and keep defeating Yuan attacks. Though they encounter plenty of setbacks along the way, the two persevere and steadily strengthen the remnants of the Song. In the end, they overcome a stronger enemy and restore the glory of Huaxia.
