The Accountant Assassin

In Hong Kong, where neon lights mingle with shadows, the bizarre death of Chen Dingfeng, founder of the tens-of-billions-strong Dingfeng conglomerate, tears away the veil of warmth from a powerful family. While everyone else focuses on the battle over the will and the struggle for territory, Chen Yongren, a quiet, unassuming senior manager in the group’s audit department, detects the scent of murder in three seemingly flawless financial statements.

He never imagined that the beads he was moving on his abacus were not the only thing he was setting in motion. He had set his sights on the “Phoenix Project,” a transnational criminal empire spanning twenty-six years and steeped in blood and dirty money. From secrets buried beneath the ashes of Kowloon Walled City to the undercurrents of money laundering in Macau’s casinos, from ghost accounts in Swiss banks to a dormant key in an Austrian castle… This “accountant assassin,” armed with an ivory abacus, must navigate family infighting, gang warfare, an international criminal manhunt, and protection from powerful insiders. With numbers as his blade and ledgers as his armor, he wages one gripping silent reckoning after another.

When the final click of the abacus beads fades into silence, he will have settled more than the family’s blood debts and the sins of its wealth. He will also have reckoned with the dark reflection of human greed in the labyrinth of global finance.
