Dismissed from the Embroidered Uniform Guard? I'll Turn Female Prisoners into Stunning Spies

“Either get lost, or… we all sink into this quagmire together.”

Gu Zhanye, former commander of the Embroidered Uniform Guard, is demoted to prison guard and put in charge of a secret unit made up of female prisoners.

He is bloodthirsty and deranged.

The newly appointed inspector, Liu Qingci, a trusted aide of the Empress, is ordered to keep him in check. Haughtily, she declares, “Gu Zhanye, in my capacity as inspector, I order you to stop this cruel torture that treats human lives as worthless!”

The next instant, the man grabs her slender waist, lifts her into the air, and hurls her into the quagmire crawling with snakes and rats.

He bends close, his scorching breath brushing her ear. His voice is husky. “Lord Liu, now you’re one of my people too. Lesson one: learn how to… survive in the mud.”

He pins her in his arms as he rescues her from a fire, holds her against him as he teaches her to grip a butcher’s knife, and corners her in a dark alley to question her about her innermost thoughts.

Liu Qingci retreats step by step, cheeks burning as she grits her teeth. “Gu Zhanye, show some restraint!”

But the man only curls his lips into a smile. With a bloodstained fingertip, he slowly strokes her lips, his gaze feverish and obsessive. “Restraint? My dear inspector, from the day you stepped into my territory, you shouldn’t have expected me… to be a gentleman.”
