Great Ming: I Kept a Low Profile and Became the Richest Man, So the Emperor Treats Me Like an Ancestor

After his soul transmigrates into the Ming dynasty, Zhu He finds himself the poorest member of the imperial clan. He only wants to use his engineering know-how to make a little money and slip out of the capital to live as a landlord.

But the beehive briquettes he invents are hailed by the Jiajing Emperor as “immortal coal,” while the refined sugar he produces is mistaken for “heaven-sent nectar.”

Zhu He is completely flustered. The more he tries to explain that it’s all science, the more the emperor, devoted to cultivating immortality, thinks he is “testing his Daoist resolve.” The emperor even chases after him in a frenzy, shouting, “Fellow Daoist, wait!”

From ending a severe drought in the capital to standing up to Mongol cavalry, Zhu He is forced to dance wildly along the tightrope of “being exposed means death.” Somehow, through one mishap after another, he turns the tottering Great Ming into an empire on which the sun never sets.
