In America, Every Day Is Freedom

My name is Jerry. On the street, everyone calls me Rat. A year ago, a cement mixer truck inexplicably slammed me into this strange place. Life’s finally looking up, and I’ve even made it to junior boss. Looking back, the road to the top was absurd beyond belief. Half a year ago, my boss’s boss’s boss got killed in a gang fight, so my boss’s boss became a junior boss. Less than two months later, that boss’s boss died from a drug overdose, and my boss took over. Then, a few days ago, my boss ran into patrol officers while he was out and got shot dead on the spot. Heh. After all that musical chairs, the position landed right in my lap. It’s no wonder, really. This job is obviously cursed. None of the previous bosses met a good end, and everyone else avoided it like the plague. But I took it anyway. With my Loyalty System, I figure I’ll be living like a king from now on.
