The Shadow of the Divine Bow Hero

Hou Yi’s Bow, the peerless divine weapon said in myth to have shot down nine suns, had descended into the mortal world.

But the divine weapon had a will of its own. Dozens of first-rate martial artists from the jianghu took turns trying, yet not one could get within ten feet of it. One greedy man even tried to force his way in. In an instant, an inexplicable fire engulfed him, and he screamed as he burned to a crisp.

For seven days and seven nights, the various factions surrounded the place, but none could do a thing.

At dawn on the eighth day, a boy in ragged cloth, carrying a load of firewood, slipped on the wet mountain path after the rain and tumbled into the pit.

Everyone assumed the unlucky young woodcutter was doomed.

To their shock, he passed through the barrier unharmed and landed beside the enormous bronze bow. Stranger still, when he instinctively reached out to touch it, the thousand-pound bow began to hum. The cracks along its body slowly healed, and a faint red glow flowed from the bow into the boy’s palm.

“He... he can touch the bow!”
