I Sent You to Guard the Forbidden Grounds, So How Did You Become an Evil God?

[Misunderstandings and over-the-top assumptions] [Stat Panel and Proficiency] [Lovecraftian Cultivation] [Red-Robed Empress Romance]

Shen Ye transmigrates into a bizarre world where “cultivating immortality means going mad.”

The statues of gods are alive, the scriptures bite, and every cultivator is insane. Even deep in the forbidden grounds lies a huge red coffin, sealing a red-robed evil god capable of destroying the world.

His family treats him like trash and throws him into the forbidden grounds to stand guard. They claim it's an important assignment, but really, they're sending him to his death.

Fortunately, Shen Ye awakens the [Heaven Rewards Hard Work] stat panel, and his Sanity is permanently locked. While others go mad, he stays clearheaded. While others flee from the supernatural as if it were a tiger, he runs right toward it to get “tortured” and grind proficiency!

The indescribable whispers of an ancient god?

Shen Ye: [Hearing Resistance +1, +1, Mental Strength surging!]

The deadly constriction of a tentacle monster?

Shen Ye: [Physical Defense +1, +1, Indestructible Body acquired!]

Even when the red-robed evil god in the coffin awakens and raises a hand to kill him?

Shen Ye: [Intimate Contact +100, Red-Robed's Favor +1, Red-Robed Protection acquired!]

Later, the red-robed evil god transforms into a peerlessly beautiful Empress and follows him everywhere, calling him “husband” at every turn.

Meanwhile, the fake corruption value Shen Ye accumulated by grinding proficiency makes black mist billow around him, more terrifying than any evil god.

When the Divine Ancestor descends, intent on corrupting the whole world, Shen Ye silently closes the rapidly scrolling [Proficiency +9999] notifications and smiles kindly. “Don't run! You're the last little bit I need to fill my experience bar!”

Shen Ye: “My dear, calm down. They just misunderstood me. I'm really just an ordinary guy who wants to grind a little experience...”
