The Journey to the West Rule Horror Descends

Blood-red notices suddenly appear on the streets of Chang’an. The pilgrimage party discovers that the world is wrapped in eerie rules: at midnight, Tang Sanzang must not recite the sutras backward; the water of the Flowing Sands River must never touch the White Dragon Horse’s lips; and if they see Sha Wujing wearing a hat, they must run at once…

Sun Wukong’s fiery golden eyes begin to burn. He sees the shadow of a “rule breaker” following everyone. Tang Sanzang’s prayer beads count footsteps on their own, and if one bead goes missing, someone will forget who they are. Zhu Bajie’s rake points toward the next unlucky victim at the hour of the tiger, while Sha Wujing’s skull necklace always glows at midnight, revealing hidden rules.

When “Obey the master” and “Everything the master says is a lie” appear at the same time, when incense at Guanyin Monastery summons a double to claim its ceremonial robes, and when every demon suddenly declares, “We’re here to help you,” the party finally realizes that the pilgrimage may have been a hunting ground governed by rules from the very beginning. And the last rule to appear is pushing them toward the most horrifying truth: whoever reaches the end must become a rule themselves.
