The Red Thread Snipper

My new work is out! You're welcome to read it on Tomato Novel. I hope you'll enjoy it. Your support gives me the motivation to write, and I'll do my best to tell every story well! [To keep my job, I personally severed a client's "emotional bond.

As the red string snapped, I heard a baby's cry from within: "Dad, don't kill me a second time."]

My name is Lu Xun, and I'm an emotional correction specialist. My job is to cut unhealthy emotional connections for clients.

In an age when emotions are quantified and marriages are matched by algorithms, my KPI is efficiency.

Then I was assigned a case involving a model couple.

The System judged their relationship to be "near death" and recommended forcing them to divorce and wiping their shared memories.

But as I carried out the procedure, I saw an impossible red string connecting them.

Inside it was a little girl, curled up. She had lived for only three days before the System deleted her.

I was put under investigation for "unprofessional sympathy," but awakened an ability to see red strings.

The mysterious owner of the Red String Teahouse told me I was a test subject in the original "Red String Weaver" experiment, and that a seed capable of resisting the System lay buried in my eyes.

My next client turned out to be the daughter of the System's chief architect.

The birthmark on her wrist was exactly like the one on my fingertip.

Even more ironically, the System told me:

My daughter, whom I had never met, was the next person I had to "correct."

When a perfect System begins erasing "wrong" emotions, I, the mistake itself, must become the final firewall.
