The Avatamsaka Record of Journey to the West

The Record of Huayan's Journey to the West is a dark fantasy epic that uses Journey to the West as its narrative framework while deeply integrating the teachings of the Buddhist classic Avatamsaka Sutra. It builds a strange universe teeming with cyber-Buddhism, biological Zen meditation, and quantum causality. The work overturns the traditional Journey to the West myth's redemptive narrative, recasting the pilgrimage to obtain scriptures as a rebellious epic that tears open the truth of the Dharma Realm. Amid metallic Buddha bones, flesh-and-blood Bodhi trees, and dimensional ruins, it philosophically examines the essence of Buddhism and deconstructs it through a postmodern lens.

The central conflict unfolds as Xuanzang and his disciples uncover the horrifying truth that the Tathagata's Dharma Realm is actually a parasitic System. The names of the Buddhas are living incantations that feed on the blood and essence of their followers; Thunderclap Monastery is in fact a biological placenta incubating a cosmic-scale lie; and the Avatamsaka Sutra is a neural memetic virus that controls all living beings. To fight the corrupted Buddhist system, the pilgrimage team must resort to self-destructive forms of enlightenment: cutting out tongues to break vows, burning scriptures to set their eyes alight, and giving birth across dimensions. With each tribulation, they expose the grotesque ecological chains lurking behind Buddhist concepts: the Four Noble Truths are a neural web that stitches karma together, the Ten Abodes are parasitic fetuses that devour enlightenment, and Samantabhadra's vows turn out to be an entropy engine accelerating the heat death of the universe.
