The Capital's Richest Heiress, Professional Bumper-Car Driver to the Cold-Faced Prince

On the night of the Lantern Festival, Zhuque Street was packed with people.

Yi Zhinian picked her moment perfectly. The instant a black steed passed the mouth of the alley, she “fell” right into its path, skirts fluttering and hairpin slipping askew, landing neatly in the rider’s arms.

“Oh! I-I bumped into someone!” She clutched his lapel and tipped up a tear-streaked face. “Young master, the dust your horse kicked up got in my eyes, and I think I’ve hurt myself. You’ll have to take responsibility...”

She looked up and met a pair of eyes as deep as an abyss.

Mo Musheng looked down at the sudden “ornament” in his arms. The girl’s eyes were bright and clear, without a trace of tears. He said coolly, “Let go.”

“No!” Yi Zhinian hugged him even tighter, her voice suddenly rising so the people around them could hear every word. “Everyone, judge for yourselves! His Highness Prince Jing’s horse hit someone. Does he think he can just ride off?”

The crowd erupted. It was the famously stern God of War, Prince Jing!

Mo Musheng’s gaze darkened. He recognized her: the only daughter of the Yi family, known as “the Capital’s Number One Good-for-Nothing.” This stunt was laughably clumsy.

He was about to order his guards to pull her away when he caught sight of a sleeve slipping down as she struggled. A tiny silver lock pendant swung into view. Its keyhole matched the shape of the old scar on his wrist in a way that was strangely uncanny.

He stopped.

Yi Zhinian caught his momentary distraction and rejoiced inwardly: Got him.

But she cried even harder. “I don’t care! If Your Highness doesn’t give me an explanation today, I-I won’t leave!”

Mo Musheng was silent for a moment, then suddenly bent down and swept her into his arms.

“As you wish.”
