[Unhinged, career-driven young marshal + military-academy-trained female firearms expert + secret identity + revenge and falling-out]
In the seventeenth year of the Republic, warlords battled for supremacy.
On the eve of her family’s downfall, her father hurried fourteen-year-old Chu Fan onto a ship bound for foreign shores.
Five years later, Chu Fan returned as a firearms manufacturing expert, only to be targeted by assassins again and again along the way.
Seeking protection, and more importantly, revenge, she honored an old pact between their fathers and married into the Military Governor’s residence, becoming Ling Huaiye’s wife.
Rumor had it that the Ling family was full of playboys. Chu Fan’s fiancé was said to be a renowned ladies’ man, but the woman he loved wasn’t her.
On their wedding day, she wore a white veil over her face. Through it, she could only make out his military uniform and tall, straight figure.
He rushed through the ceremony and left her with a single remark: “I already have someone I love. Since my father made a solemn promise and wants me to marry you, I will. But don’t expect anything else from me.”
Before they had even seen each other clearly, he hurried back to his post on their wedding night. Chu Fan kept her secret identity hidden and obediently stayed at the Military Governor’s residence.
During a dangerous mission, Chu Fan became separated from the main force and made her way alone to Ling Huaiye’s post for help.
Ling Huaiye didn’t recognize her. Sitting behind his desk with his long legs propped up on it, he asked casually, “Come here looking for your husband?”
Chu Fan nodded.
For once, his heart softened, and he arranged a place for her to stay. “When that heartless man who abandoned his wife gets back, I’ll shoot him for you.”
From then on, Chu Fan followed him around every day, but he said haughtily, “I already have someone I love. Don’t set your sights on me, Marshal.”
Chu Fan only smiled. “So what? You’re not the one I’m after.”
Then one day, her secret identity was exposed. From that moment on, the once-arrogant young marshal followed her everywhere. “My dear expert, please show me mercy just this once.”
A new story, written in the Republic of China, Shuang Jie + Shuang Qiang + Waistcoat + Protecting Wife + Rebellion and Slight Abuse + Family and Country Justice. I don't know if there are any book reviews, so I'll take the first place.
Buried, I think this setting is very interesting. The male protagonist is a warlord and the female protagonist is the first time I see the characters. There are a lot of hidden clues in the early stage, but the male and female protagonists always miss it by accident.
