A Coexistence Pact Between a Stone-Faced Genius and a Delinquent Girl

When Shen Juan, the “aloof academic genius” with permanent facial paralysis, and Lin You, the “bad girl” who used a fiery temper as a front, were forced by their homeroom teacher into a “study group for life,” everyone expected a disaster.

Shen Juan was secretly a chuunibyou obsessed with fantasy spells, while Lin You secretly drew detailed designs for mechs. Their first encounter was pure chaos, but after accidentally discovering each other’s secrets, they formed a “chuunibyou alliance.” He taught her force analysis, and she made fun of his terrible spells. He helped scare off thugs, and she fired back at anyone who mocked him.

Then Lin You’s violent older brother stormed into school, and a quick-witted lie, “We’re dating”, swept them both into the eye of the storm. Worse crises soon followed: their medical records and scars were about to be maliciously exposed.

“Then let’s turn our wounds into armor.”

At Monday’s flag-raising ceremony, Shen Juan spoke openly in front of the whole school for the first time about his illness and fantasy world, then recited his absurd but heartfelt protective spell. Lin You dropped her disguise and showed everyone the mech designs she had drawn. “I used to think I had to be covered in spikes to survive, until I met someone willing to understand every strange thing about me.”

From being forced together to choosing each other, from hiding just to survive to blooming as their true selves.

This is the path traced by two lonely planets meeting, and the clumsy yet courageous miracle of growing together in youth: “I’ll teach you how to solve problems, and you’ll teach me how to smile.”
