The Reborn Female General Becomes Emperor Herself

In her previous life, she was the Silver-Masked General who helped him rise from obscurity to rule the world, and the confidante he promised to make empress once peace was restored.

Yet on the very day his reign of peace began, he gave her poisoned wine and had five hundred executioners chop her into minced meat.

When she opened her eyes again, she had returned to the night before she was to marry into a powerful family at eighteen.

Her bridal finery shattered. Her sword was in her hand once more.

In this life,

she would not settle for the throne beside the emperor. She would take the throne herself.

She would not be a general. She would be the ruler.

From fleeing an arranged marriage to joining the army, from carving out a realm of her own to outmaneuvering her enemies at every turn, from raising the banner bearing the character Zhao amid the chaos to recruiting fierce generals and wise advisers, rescuing orphaned girls, and pacifying the four borderlands. She would trample across the land at the head of her armies.

Her former enemies knelt before her steps. Her former lover became a prisoner beneath them.

At court, the officials used the Admonitions for Women to threaten her: "For a hen to crow at dawn is a great taboo for the nation!"

She burned the book in open court and issued the Edict of Peace: "If one can end war and bring peace to the people, what difference does gender make?"

On the Dragon Throne, dressed in black robes and the imperial crown.

She became the founding empress, and named her era Zhaowu.

But the truth behind the poisoned wine from her past life continued to haunt her. And the man who had once betrayed her had returned with his memories intact, repeatedly risking his life to protect her as she fought for the throne...

"Your Majesty," he knelt below the steps, smiling through the blood. "Can I make amends in this life?"

She surveyed the realm and pointed her sword at the world:

"The peace I want is one where women can be generals, ministers, and emperors."

"I will set the rules for this realm."

In a nutshell: Reborn, the betrayed female general refuses to become empress and instead fights her way to becoming emperor amid the chaos, carving out a path of her own
