I Am a Cancer Cell of Civilization

For ten years, I mined “source ore” in a cyberpunk mine, supplying the city of flesh and steel.

Then a cave-in buried me alive. As I lay dying, I saw the truth: the flowing veins of ore were the nerve fibers of a “Titan’s corpse,” and the monsters devouring my coworkers were wandering immune cells.

And I had become the only “cancer cell” to awaken inside this enormous corpse.

I began to undergo uncontrollable “pathological proliferation.”

My left arm mutated into a living tentacle that devours steel. My right eye can see the biological code of everything.

I devour steam-powered mechs and turn them into my bones. I decipher the whispers of the ancient gods and learn to rewrite the rules of the world.

The tentacles of the Old Ones see me as the perfect tumor, and they hunger for me.

But they’re wrong.

My goal was never to rule inside this rotting corpse.

I will grow. I will spread. I will follow the blood vessels and nerves and “metastasize” all the way behind its eyeball

To see for myself what floats beyond this prison called “the world.”
