A Legacy for the Ages: The Poor Noblewoman Starts Studying

Mu Weiyue transmigrated into an imperial-examination novel as the illegitimate daughter of a poor family.

Her mother died young, her father ignored her, and her spiteful stepmother was about to marry her off as a concubine to a man in his sixties.

Looking at her pale face in the mirror, Mu Weiyue tore up the marriage contract and pushed open the study door.

Before transmigrating, Mu Weiyue was a PhD in history. Now, she had a photographic memory.

The imperial exams? Women weren’t allowed to take them?

Then she would become a “female top scholar” and force her way into the court to prove them wrong!

From passing the county exam as a licentiate to becoming the top scholar before the emperor. From a Hanlin editor to a first-rank minister.

As a woman, Mu Weiyue enters the exam halls, reforms the tax system, pacifies the frontiers, and establishes schools for girls. She also stands shoulder to shoulder with Xie Yunzhou, a powerful minister from a humble background, as they shape the fate of the realm together.

Years later, the histories would record: “In the Zhou dynasty, there was Weiyue, an illegitimate daughter of humble origins who pioneered the imperial examinations for women and whose name would be remembered for all time.”
