St. Cherry Academy: The Heiress's Max-Level Script

On a stormy night, rain leaked through the old attic deep in Wutong Alley. Su Wan leaned against a moldy corner, her fingers gripping a crumpled remittance slip. Three thousand yuan, the fifth payment she’d sent this month to the left-behind children of Qingshan Village. Neon lights outside shone through the tattered screen window, casting flickering shadows across her face. Her phone screen glowed. In the pinned group chat, the words “Shengying Elite Academy Admission Notice” stung her eyes. The chatter kept flooding in, every contemptuous remark pricking her heart like a needle. [Tch, who’d have thought a golden phoenix could fly out of a slum?] [Su Wan? The one who got into Shengying on financial aid? I heard she can’t even afford a decent pair of leather shoes.] [Shh, careful, she might hear you. Apparently she’s a real little actress. Last time she even got Senior Lu to buy her a Starbucks Frappuccino.] Su Wan curled her lip and slipped her phone back into her pocket, a chill in her smile. An act? She was acting, all right. Acting sweet, acting fragile, acting like she didn’t care about all the glittering things at Shengying. But who knew that she, Su Wan, had been born to love money? Money was wonderful. It could buy warm padded coats for the little kids in Qingshan Village, keep the teachers from having to gnaw on cold steamed buns, and help her climb from the mud to the clouds, one step at a time. Shengying Elite Academy was full of hidden dragons and crouching tigers, with gold lying everywhere. And Su Wan had come to hunt for it. As for those who coveted her, looked down on her, or wanted to use her… a shrewd glint flashed in Su Wan’s eyes, like a fox poised to pounce. The game was only just beginning.
