A Carefree Journey Through the Mystic Realm

This fantasy story is adapted from the thirty-three chapters of the classic Chinese text Zhuangzi. In ancient times, the god Hundun died after Shu and Hu carved seven apertures into him. His body became three layers of mystic realms, while his soul shattered into thirty-three “True Principles of Zhiyan,” scattered across the worlds. As he lay dying, Hundun left a prophecy: “Only when Zhiyan is reunited will the True Master be revealed.” In the far north, a young boy called Kun Slave raises giant kun fish in the Northern Sea, unaware that he is actually a book spirit formed from a fragment of “Free and Easy Wandering.” When the great cultivation sect Lingxiao Pavilion lays waste to the ice fields, a giant kun transforms into a roc and soars into the sky. The boy grasps the distinction between the great and the small and awakens the first True Principle of Zhiyan: “Unreliance.” Thus begins his fantastic quest to find the remaining True Principles of Zhiyan. The protagonists don't “level up by fighting monsters”; they “gain insight into the Dao, one layer at a time.” Every story has two layers: · The surface: Fantasy adventure, including exploring secret realms, sect rivalries, and competing for magical treasures. · Beneath the surface: Philosophical reflection, with Zhuangzi's ideas woven naturally into the plot. Ending: Once all thirty-three True Principles of Zhiyan have been gathered, the door in the depths of the Sea of Chaos will open... What to expect · Philosophical depth × fantasy storytelling: Zhuangzi's ideas become a cultivation system. · Episodic tales × overarching plot: 33 standalone stories, each connected to the larger narrative. · A fresh take on cultivation: No pills or treasure-hunting. Break through with “free and easy wandering,” “all things as one,” and “sitting in forgetfulness.” · Artistic vision: Elegant battles like Cook Ding carving an ox, and scenery evoking the sacred Mount Gushe. Worldbuilding | Philosophical fantasy | Episodic stories | Ensemble character growth Perfect for readers who love stories that make them think!
