Heaven's Mandate: The Mystic Lady's Compass Decides Life and Death

The women of the Ji family never live past the age of twenty-three.

Ji Zhiwei, a staunch materialist and top architecture student, never believed in fate. That is, until her twenty-third birthday, when a strange, ink-black lotus appeared on her wrist.

The mark was identical to the one in her late mother's portrait.

Her grandmother said it was a curse that would wipe out the Ji family, a death sentence etched into their bloodline.

The only way to survive was to take up the long-sealed Xuanwei Ruler and search for the legendary Dragon Vein, said to be capable of defying fate.

Ji Zhiwei: "Thanks, but it's the twenty-first century. I choose to believe in science."

The next second, a ghost knocked at her door, a demon entered her dreams, and strange events came one after another.

Forced to take up a compass, she embarked on a road with no turning back.

In ancient tombs, others searched for treasure while she searched for a chance to survive.

In the city, others went to work while she read the feng shui.

Facing a ruthless rival clan, she said, "With skills like yours, you think you can practice feng shui? Did you have your family's ancestral grave assessed by a PE teacher?"

Facing her mysterious, inscrutable guardian, she said, "Stop speaking in riddles. If you have something to say, say it. Otherwise, don't keep me from earning money to prolong my life."

She thought she was only struggling to stay alive, unaware that the compass in her hands was stirring the fate of the world and setting in motion a vast conspiracy spanning a thousand years.

Only when every clue pointed to the end did she discover that the so-called curse was merely the beginning of this game of intrigue.
