Spirit-Devouring Heavenly Abyss

Synopsis of Spirit Devours the Heavenly Abyss

The Cloudwaste Continent stretches across nine provinces and four seas, with the Sky Pillar Mountains standing at its center. Tianyan Sect occupies the mountain peak, upholding the righteous path. The Netherworld Cult hides in the Nine Netherworlds, cultivating the Yellow Springs Demonic Art. Brahma Sound Temple, Shennong Valley, and Heavenly Secret City maintain a neutral balance, while the divide between good and evil conceals surging undercurrents. Three heavenly tribulations temper the path of cultivation: refining essence into qi and advancing to the Deity Transformation realm, refining qi into spirit and passing through tribulation, then refining spirit and returning to the void to knock on the gates of immortality. Heart-demon tribulations accompany breakthroughs, life-bound spirit weapons thrive alongside their wielders, and merit and karma quietly determine the path to immortality. Every step of cultivation is fraught with peril.

Lin Hao, a menial disciple of Tianyan Sect, bears a Seven-Aperture Exquisite Heart. Born emotionally detached, he is mocked as a “wooden man.” After three years of cultivation, he has made almost no progress. Then, in a hidden compartment of the servants’ quarters, he finds the Mountain-and-River Cauldron, the treasured heirloom of Qingyun Sect. It awakens the remnant soul of Lingxiaozi, who died three hundred years ago. Lin Hao then learns that he is the last surviving orphan of Qingyun Sect, which was framed and destroyed by Tianyan Sect. The blood feud over his sect’s destruction and the continent’s hidden secrets are now inextricably bound to him.

Su Yingxue, a prodigy of the inner sect and the sect leader’s personal disciple, is peerlessly graceful. She suffers from the torment of a Profound Yin Severed Meridian, yet has no idea that she is the Netherworld Cult’s saintess, with her memories and demonic arts sealed away. The Netherworld’s young lord, Mo Yuan, infiltrates Tianyan under an assumed name, charged with finding his younger sister and seizing the cauldron. Yet he repeatedly struggles between his family ties and the shackles of his sect. The three are bound together by fate. From first showing their mettle at the sect’s inner-disciple contest, to risking their lives for one another in the Ten Thousand Demons Valley trial, and then witnessing a world-shaking anomaly at the martial contest between the three sects, Su Yingxue’s memories gradually return, Mo Yuan’s identity becomes impossible to conceal, and the boundary between good and evil comes crashing down.

As Lin Hao leaves the mountain to temper his heart and unseal his emotions, the truth behind Qingyun Sect’s destruction is gradually revealed. It turns out to be tied to a shocking conspiracy by an inspector from the Upper Realm: this world is actually a place of exile for the Upper Realm, and a prohibition on ascension has trapped all living beings. The Venerable Xuantian descends, seeking to prolong his life by using cultivators’ souls. Former enemies from the righteous and demonic factions are forced
