You Were Supposed to Get a Job, So Why Are Gorgeous Landladies All Over You?

[Hidden Powerhouse + Multiple Female Leads + Live-Stream Reveal + Misunderstandings]

Jiang Chen is the head of the Abyss Merchant Guild, the world’s largest underground organization. Known by the codename “Nightwatcher,” he commands a trillion in wealth and enough military power to topple nations.

Tired of a life steeped in bloodshed, he returns to his homeland to live in seclusion. He becomes a security guard earning just 3,000 yuan a month and moves into Fangting Apartments, a complex full of beautiful women.

He only wants to experience the simple pleasures of everyday life, but things gradually go off the rails:

The aloof female CEO: “Jiang Chen, take these five million and spend them. From now on, I’ll support you, big sis. Don’t go hauling bricks at construction sites anymore.”

The tough policewoman: “Anyone who dares bully Jiang Chen will have to answer to the gun in my hand!”

The stunning landlady: “Xiao Chen had such a hard life. We need to take good care of him, girls. Leave the door open for him tonight...”

Faced with his big sisters’ “overwhelming affection,” Jiang Chen can only smile wryly. I’m really not a kept man!

Then one day, the sweet, ditzy girl next door secretly livestreams Jiang Chen’s “miserable daily life” to meet her streaming-hours quota:

“Does anyone else feel bad for Brother Jiang Chen? Even his drinking cup has a chipped rim...”

The big shots in the livestream chat explode:

“Holy crap! That’s a Chenghua-period doucai chicken cup from the Ming Dynasty! It sold for 300 million at auction! He uses it to drink plain water?!”

“Wait! That rag he’s using to wipe the table... is it top-grade NASA bulletproof material?”

“And those flip-flops... aren’t they specially made for the Middle Eastern royal family?”

When the world’s richest man kneels outside the apartment, begging Jiang Chen to come out of retirement, and mercenary kings tremble before him,

the big sisters are stunned: “So the little puppy we thought we had to protect is actually the king of the world?”

Jiang Chen spreads his hands. “I just wanted to slack off, but you had to expose me?”
