Seven years ago, because of a family crisis, Lu Yuan left without a word and headed north to make a living. He didn’t want to hold back Zhao Yanyun while she prepared for her exams. Seven years later, an old, yellowed photograph of Zhao Yanyun smiling beneath the plane trees on East Jiangcheng Road awakens the longing he has buried deep inside. He takes advantage of his annual leave to return to Jiangcheng and revisit the past.
He walks the plane-tree-lined road on East Jiangcheng Road again and visits the old shops they once frequented together. At Evening Glow Cafe on a street corner, he relives the little moments he shared with Zhao Yanyun. By a twist of fate, they unexpectedly meet again among the narrow lanes. Their “Long time no see” says everything about the distance the years have put between them. From an honest conversation in a teahouse to clearing up misunderstandings from the past, the two gradually fill in the seven-year gap as they cautiously test the waters and struggle with their feelings. Lu Yuan draws closer with his gentle companionship, while Zhao Yanyun opens her long-closed heart with encouragement from her best friend and mother. In the end, they rekindle their relationship beneath the plane tree that bears the marks of their past.
