Lin Wan conceals that she is the daughter of a company chairman and marries Shen Zhinian, helping him rise to become the president of a branch company. One day, Lin Wan discovers she is pregnant and hurries to share the happy news with her husband, only to find him involved with his mistress. Just after Lin Wan's divorce, her father, Jiang Han, chairman of Huaya Group, becomes so enraged over his younger brother Jiang Hai's bid to seize the chairmanship that he is admitted to the ICU. At this critical moment, Lin Wan takes charge of the company. With help from her childhood friend Gu Yanzhi, president of the Gu Group, and her close friend Chu Yu, she outmaneuvers Jiang Hai and builds the company into a stronger, more successful business. In the end, Lin Wan finds love, too, and is utterly spoiled by her husband, Gu Yanzhi, and her mother-in-law, Madam Gu. The novel's main attractions are: first, turning the tables against the odds and making a comeback; second, showing that divorced women can find love; third, challenging the misconception that relationships between mothers-in-law and daughters-in-law must be tense and hostile, and celebrating harmonious family bonds; and, most importantly, showing that expectant mothers can also make their mark in the world.
