The Boxing Champion Fought Dirty for Love. She Cut Her Hair, Hid a Blade, and Died for Him

I died in the boxing match that won her freedom.

As my soul drifted away, I saw that Zining didn’t cry.

She simply picked up the scissors and gently gave me one last haircut, just as she always did.

Then she opened the wooden box that held our hair and placed the final lock inside.

Facing my body, she smiled and swallowed the medicine Miss Shen had given her.

They called it a lovers’ suicide.

But I knew this wasn’t the end.

It was our wedding.

In another world, there would be no boxing ring, no debts, only me and her little barbershop.

[Republican-era setting + illegal boxing + tragic beauty + pure love and lovers’ suicide]
