Synopsis

He woke from a dream to the deep tolling of temple bells, only to find himself a Xuyun-generation disciple of Shaolin, with the Buddhist name Xuyun. Xuan Nan, the head of the Arhat Hall, clapped his hands and laughed. “This child was born with extraordinary spiritual insight. He should inherit my mantle and bring glory to Shaolin martial arts!” The monks throughout the temple all praised the decision, but Xuyun himself was stunned. They were wrong, all of them! What he wanted was never a life by a green lamp with ancient scriptures. It wasn’t the Prajna Palm, the Flower-Offering Finger, or the honor of inheriting the source of all martial arts under heaven. What he wanted was the teeming mortal world, the freedom to settle grudges and repay kindness, and the thrill of knowing that once he threw a punch, it became the rule of the martial world! Since fate had let him be reborn in this world, then the ways of the jianghu, the order of the martial world, and the principles of the realm... Would all be reset by the fists I trained at Shaolin!
