[Heartwarming] [Adventure] [Frieren: Beyond Journey's End] [Magic] [Western Fantasy] [Longevity]
I am Vera, a Star Seer who has lived for over a thousand years.
Star Seers read fate in the stars and pluck them down to refine their arts. They can see the rise and fall of the mortal world, yet cannot understand the separations and reunions of everyday life.
It turns out some things, once left unsaid, stay that way for a hundred years.
At last, I have set out to retrace the path of our old adventure.
Along the way, I picked up an adorable human apprentice and met a dwarf descendant who carried a massive axe but was terribly timid. Their constant bickering crowded into my century of solitude.
Passing through a small town by a stream, I remembered how he had once saved a child from drowning there. Entering an ancient temple deep in the mountains, I recalled how he had once prayed there for "a world free of disaster." When I reached the eastern coast, fireflies danced all across the sky, just like the light in his eyes all those years ago.
This time, I am no longer a Star Seer who watches from a distance.
I will gather the fragments buried by time and walk the road left unfinished, for his sake and for my own.
A Star Seer's century of recollections is a tender completion, and an adventure that will never end.
This novel is as fascinating as prose. If you have read Florian at the Funeral, this novel will be a good choice 👍
