Xuanzang, now the Sandalwood Merit Buddha, accepts Wukong’s invitation to go to the human world and watch Wukong star in a tale of the Journey to the West. But he unexpectedly transmigrates into the world of Journey to the West. By a twist of fate, he encounters the Six-Eared Macaque, who drags him into playing this world’s Tang Monk and heading west to seek the scriptures. As Xuanzang also needs to travel west to ask this world’s Buddha, Tathagata, how to return to his own world, he takes the opportunity to help the Six-Eared Macaque let go of his obsession. And so, he once again sets out on the journey west.
