Synopsis

The Patriarch said the monkey didn't need to take three blows...

Patriarch Bodhi tapped Sun Wukong three times with his ruler, then clasped his hands behind his back and walked away.

All the disciples said the Patriarch was angry, but Wukong slipped into his room in the middle of the night.

“Master, those three taps with your ruler meant the third watch, didn't they?”

In the darkness, the Patriarch slowly revealed an iron staff engraved with the words “Ruyi Golden Cudgel.”

“Rascal monkey, you left this with me five hundred years ago, when you wreaked havoc in Heaven.”

“Now it's back where it belongs. You should go beat yourself up.”

Are There Any Good Books Like Journey to the West?

No conspiracy theories, and don't try to shoehorn Investiture of the Gods into it. I'm just looking for something normal, not one of those stories where Journey to the West is suddenly some kind of conspiracy. I'm so sick of that.
