In 1991, I Talked the Eagle into Building a Military-Industrial Complex

After transmigrating to America in 1991, Xie Linyuan finds himself in hell from the start: his government-sponsored study-abroad scholarship has been revoked, his advisor has plagiarized his thesis, and the CIA wants to invite him in for a cup of tea.

Luckily, he awakens the National Fortune Analysis System!

As long as he can con foreigners into becoming “believers” and handing over their dollars, he can exchange them for top-tier military technology and talent!

So Xie Linyuan dons a Tang suit, rolls walnuts in his hand, and sets off down the one-way road of a “charlatan.”

To a Wall Street tycoon: “Mr. Smith, your forehead looks dark. Invest those hundreds of millions in chips and you’re bound to lose. Why not put them into my ‘East Wind Express’ project instead? It’ll avert disaster by making you part with your money.”

To a Pentagon general: “This aircraft carrier is carrying too much baleful energy. You must give me the blueprints so I can take them back East and have a holy monk perform rites over them for forty-nine days!”

To a Hollywood actress: “Want to be famous? Easy. Put on this suit engraved with ‘invisibility coating incantations,’ and I guarantee you’ll become a huge star!”

A few years later.

While the Eagle still studies the “feng shui formations” left behind by Master Xie,

the Rabbit across the ocean has launched its aircraft carriers, sent its fifth-generation fighters on patrol, and made chips as cheap as cabbage!

The FBI is in shambles as a team storms Xie Linyuan’s mansion. “Xie Linyuan! How did you strip America of everything it had?!”

Xie Linyuan looks innocent and points to the statue of Guan Yu behind him. “Officer, let’s be reasonable. I’m really just a fortune-teller. What do the great powers of the nation have to do with me?”
