After Becoming a Beast World Serf, I Turned My Life Around Through Feasting

Xia Jinxi woke up freezing.

More precisely, she sneezed so violently from the cold that she jolted herself right off the hard pile of straw. The back of her head smacked squarely into a sharp-edged rock.

“Ugh, ” She sucked in a breath, tears springing two centimeters from her eyes. She was just about to curse, “Which idiot left a rock here?” when she opened her eyes and froze in confusion.

Above her was the smoke-blackened ceiling of a cave, with several strings of shriveled, unfamiliar fruit hanging from it. The straw beneath her stabbed painfully into her back, and the “clothes” wrapped around her were rough enough to scrape her skin. They were made of animal hide and carried a lingering rank, gamey smell.

Where was she?

Hadn’t she been at home working on a deadline, when she slipped and landed on her backside while reaching for a snack that had rolled under the sofa? How had the scene changed so completely, sending her straight from an air-conditioned room in the twenty-first century to a cave straight out of prehistoric times?

Xia Jinxi struggled to her feet. Just as she was about to stretch her arms and legs, a rough voice called from outside the cave: “Xia Jinxi! What’s taking you so long? Get out here and fetch water! The sun’s already high in the sky. Want a whipping or what?”
