Gu Zhiyan seems quiet and reserved, but inside, she’s a drama queen. Her life motto: If I pretend nothing’s awkward, then the whole world is the one feeling awkward.
Wen Jingci is widely recognized as a top student, but in reality, he’s a chuunibyou “runaway manga protagonist” who firmly believes he has a sacred duty to protect the world.
When Gu Zhiyan accidentally sends Wen Jingci a text meant for her crush, the school’s PE rep, his reply is: “I suggest reevaluating your ‘liking’ parameters.”
Later, the whole school witnesses the pair’s surreal everyday antics:
He invokes the law of conservation of energy to claim the last piece of sweet-and-sour pork.
When his “physics-based invisibility technique” fails, she calmly reports, “Teacher, one of the potted plants has come to life.”
Then, during the school arts gala, he uses the play as an excuse to whisper in her ear: “Reporting in. The core program has encountered an unknown disturbance. Requesting permanent access.”
Gu Zhiyan: ??? Speak like a normal person!
Wen Jingci: …I mean, we can protect world peace together.
