Your Highness, Stop Sucking! I Won't Be Your Tonic

Gu Changyuan was the regent, a man whose power overshadowed the entire court. His methods were ruthless, and everyone feared him.

Yet no one knew that he was afflicted with the deadly Cold Gu curse. On moonlit nights, he would become a demon, suffering unbearable torment.

Shen Zhiyuan, the disgraced daughter of a condemned official who had fallen from grace overnight, was forced to become a sacrificial bride to bring good fortune to this “living King of Hell” and save her family. She married into the prince’s manor.

On their wedding night, the red candles wept blood.

Shen Zhiyuan never got to hear of his death. Instead, she stumbled upon his madness as the poison flared.

Her blood turned out to be the only antidote for Gu Changyuan.

From then on, she became Gu Changyuan’s “medicine in the palm of his hand,” his only hope of staying alive.

In public, Gu Changyuan was a husband who doted on her beyond measure, holding her in the palm of his hand and granting her unparalleled glory.

“Ah Yuan is frail. The wind is too strong. All of you, withdraw,” Gu Changyuan ordered before the entire court, draping his own robe over her shoulders.

In private, however, Gu Changyuan gripped her chin, his gaze dark and his voice low. “Be good, Ah Yuan. Give me one more drop of blood. Just one.”

Gu Changyuan imprisoned her in a gilded cage, using the most extravagant affection as chains, leaving her nowhere to run.

Later, Gu Changyuan swept aside every obstacle and claimed the throne.

When everyone thought he would choose a new empress, Gu Changyuan took her hand before all the people and kissed it reverently.

“My life was given to me by her. Naturally, she should share this vast empire with me. She alone has been, and will always be, my empress.”

Only Shen Zhiyuan knew what the man whispered by her ear, in a voice only the two of them could hear:

“Ah Yuan, you can’t escape. In life, you belong to me. In death… your soul must be mine too.”
