Learning to Live

About Learn to Live

Learn to Live is a collection of essays focused on the growth and awakening of ordinary people. Drawing on the author’s own experiences as a high-achieving professional, it traces her transformation from a software engineering student troubled by her choice of major and swept along by the pace set by others, to someone who takes charge of her life after meeting her partner, and eventually leaves a major internet company to found the Zhiyu Studio, using AI technology to share warmth and value.

This book offers no hollow theoretical lectures. Instead, through vivid, relatable scenes, the bewilderment of an afternoon in the library, the difficult exploration of course projects, the exhaustion of working at a major tech company, and the warm moments along the road to starting a business, it carefully depicts the author’s thoughts and choices at different stages of life. From repeatedly questioning her choice of major, to deeply reflecting on the “success standards of major tech companies,” and then using technology to help others realize their own worth, Lin Wan writes with sincerity to tell readers that learning to live does not mean pursuing a perfect ending. It means daring to try when you feel lost, finding balance between work and life, and hearing the desires of your own heart even as you listen to the voices around you. This book is for every young person who feels lost while growing up. Whether you are a university student facing a choice of major or a working professional weighed down by job pressure, you can find the courage to face your uncertainties and discover a pace of life that is your own.
