From Bug Hunter to Security Mogul

Lin Ye, a network admin apprentice who dropped out of vocational school, makes his way in the world with his own unconventional hacking skills. He uses XSS injection to exploit the billing system at an underground internet cafe and earns his first big payout by finding CVEs with Burp Suite, but he also gets burned by a black-market Trojan and his lack of WAF defenses.

Fed up with the industry's unwritten rules, he quits with two friends to start a company. With a mattress and a few servers in a garage, they build Wild Dog Security. After a botched system-hardening job for a bubble tea shop leaves them paying damages, they land a six-figure deal by cracking ransomware in three hours. A VC mocks them for “not understanding SDL,” but they turn the tables with fuzz testing and secure an angel investment. They fend off a major tech company's free-service blitz, then fight their way to success with APT defense and honeypot technology. Lin Ye and his team navigate the world between vulnerabilities and money.

After weathering a black-market counterattack involving DDoS attacks and overcoming the compliance minefield of Classified Protection Level 2.0, he ultimately transforms Wild Dog Security into a security empire spanning vulnerability research, talent development, and compliance implementation.

Packed with practical cybersecurity know-how, this is a satisfying underdog story that uses dark humor to unpack the battles of business. Watch the “vulnerability hunter” patch the holes in his own life, going from an internet cafe fugitive to an industry titan at the World Internet Conference in Wuzhen, as code and cash fly side by side.
