The Overlord Defies Heaven: Rewriting the Chu-Han Conflict at the Honggou Canal

On the night peace talks began at the Honggou River, a strand of knowledge from the future entered the body of Xiang Yu, the Hegemon-King of Western Chu. Mounted on his black steed, Zhui, with his coiling-dragon halberd in hand, he no longer saw the encircling songs of Chu at Gaixia. Instead, he saw Liu Bang’s peace treaty, riddled with hidden traps. His mind was etched with a death list: Han Xin, whose entire clan would be executed; Peng Yue, hacked into mincemeat; and his own final act, taking his life by the Wu River.

He cast aside his stubbornness and deployed brilliant strategies. Splitting his forces to raid supply lines, he kept the three great armies of Han Xin, Peng Yue, and Ying Bu at bay, and used the Thirty-Six Stratagems to dismantle Liu Bang’s encirclement. He restored his troops’ morale and won the people’s hearts, unleashing a new storm of iron and cunning between the borders of Chu and Han. When Liu Bang realized that the fates of his meritorious followers had already been written, and the Han army began to crumble beneath Chu’s iron hooves, the Hegemon-King, armed with memories of the future, would plant Chu banners throughout Guanzhong and rewrite the tragic tale of the sons of Jiangdong who never crossed the river!
