I Transmigrated to a Poor County in Ancient Times and Went All In on Infrastructure

[Farming + Infrastructure + Transmigration] Lu You was a college student from one of eighteen counties, preparing for the civil service exam. He took it six times and still failed, then unexpectedly transmigrated to the Great Jing Dynasty. Because the original owner had been upright and principled, his official career had gone poorly, and he was demoted to become magistrate of Yunmeng County, which was in the grip of famine. On his first day in office, he encountered the previous magistrate, who had also been demoted. As he handed over his position, the former magistrate bowed to him. “Lord Lu, you’re truly a Bodhisattva sent by Heaven to save me! The unruly people of Yunmeng County have long refused to follow orders. The farmers are idle, and the merchants have more powerful connections than I do as a seventh-rank official. I simply can’t manage them! His Majesty has been kind enough to let me resign and return home. I’ll be sure to recite sutras for three days and three nights to thank him for his immense generosity.” Lu You’s mouth twitched. He had never seen anyone look so happy after being dismissed from office. Only after taking over did he discover that Yunmeng County was crawling with unruly people, hoodlums, and local landowners. But Lu You was a young man who had truly been steeped in the new ideas of socialism. He would take on the landlords, spur people to work, and lead the whole county to prosperity. Watch as this young magistrate uses thousands of years of wisdom to govern a small county, transform it into the wealthiest county around, and steadily climb the ranks.
