After special forces soldier Lin Wan dies in the line of duty, she transmigrates into the body of Lin Xiaoan, a fourteen-year-old girl who enlisted in her father's place.
The moment she opens her eyes, she is on a northern frontier battlefield strewn with corpses. Tatar cavalry are hot on her heels, while the scattered remnants of her army flee ahead. Relying on her modern military instincts, she hurls a spear to save a fellow soldier, then collapses from exhaustion, on the brink of death. Just then, the silver-armored youth Huo Yunting rides up and drives the enemy back with a single arrow.
From then on, the frail “boy” becomes General Huo's personal guard.
When the army runs out of food, she teaches the soldiers how to identify wild edible plants. When their weapons prove crude, she improves the range of their bows and arrows. When the wounded are left to die, she establishes battlefield first aid. Her secret, that she is a woman disguised as a man, is exposed at a life-or-death moment. Shocked, Huo Yunting takes her hand and says, “When you're with me, be yourself.”
The court is corrupt, and the northern frontier has been abandoned.
Twelve golden edicts force Huo Yunting to return to the capital and face certain death. Lin Wan declares without hesitation, “Then we'll rebel!” She rides a thousand li to save the Huo clan, and he leads his troops south, setting his sights on the Central Plains. From low-ranking frontier soldiers to the founding emperor and empress, they cross mountains of corpses and seas of blood side by side, and together usher in a golden age with women's schools, medical colleges, and a system of military farming.
This is the legend of a female general riding across the realm, and an epic collision between modern thinking and the realities of the ancient world.
When Huo Yunting abdicates and retires, clasping her hand as he says, “In this life, I will have only one empress,” Lin Wan knows that from the day they met in the depths of despair, they were destined to share life and death, and rule the realm together.
Very enjoyable and beautiful
