Fireflies in the Jungle

Eastern Condors fan fiction:

Male lead: Colonel Lin (played by Lam Ching-ying)

Original female lead: Lin Jingzhi (military doctor)

Jingzhi had grown tired of serving as a frontline military doctor for the American forces. She had just arrived at headquarters with her resignation letter when a logistics colleague she knew told her about her final assignment.

She was to go to the front lines in Vietnam with Colonel Lin and Colonel Yang to destroy an arms depot hidden deep in the mountains.

She almost wanted to flip them off.

She was a military doctor, not a Navy SEAL. Why the hell was she being sent away from the military hospital to the front lines to get herself killed?

Irritated, she waited outside the office to be summoned. Her gaze happened to drift down to the icy road below, where she spotted a colonel she had once saved: Lin Zheng.

So he was the Colonel Lin her colleague had mentioned?

His injury had barely healed, and he was already taking on another assignment. He sure was dedicated...
