Chen Mo, a young man from the countryside, heads south to make his fortune. Amid the grime of construction sites, nightclubs, and gangs, he protects the innocence of Tian Tian, a cafeteria worker; comes to understand the struggles of Liu Piaopiao, a woman in the sex trade; and gets caught up in the revenge of the mysterious Bai Meigui. To protect the people he loves, the honest young man is forced to descend into the underworld as a street enforcer. In the end, he joins forces with the three women, using both wits and muscle to bring down the gang and find a new life and a place to belong in the south.
