The Five-Year-Old Is a Little Terror, Riding a Black Bear to Catch Spies

[Period setting + adorable child + beast taming + mysticism + feel-good power fantasy] Five-year-old Taotao is a tiny little girl, as well as a “little spirit medium” famous throughout the surrounding villages. She can understand animal speech and command the Five Immortals: the Fox, Weasel, Hedgehog, Snake, and Rat. In her grandmother’s eyes, she is a mystic genius who appears only once in a century. Her father is a hero on the frontier, but he mysteriously disappeared during a mission to capture enemy agents. His fate remains unknown. “Daddy isn’t dead. I’m going to find him!” While everyone else thinks these are just the words of a little child, her tiny figure resolutely steps into the endless forests and snowy wilderness. And so, this silent snowbound forest starts getting decidedly “unusual.” A wily weasel becomes her scout, a ferocious black bear her vanguard, and the king of the northeastern mountains, the Siberian tiger, bows to her. The enemy agents lying in wait discover that the traps they set are occupied by bears snoozing away, while a group of chipmunks has turned their radio antenna into a swing... The poachers are left questioning their sanity, too: their hunting rifles inexplicably misfire, and their lassos always manage to catch their owners instead.
