The Eldest Sister Takes Charge: Using Modern Supplies to Support the Whole Family

[Period setting + raising children + years of famine + connected to the modern world + domestic life + fictional setting] After her parents die unexpectedly, Ruan Mengqiu is left with three younger brothers and newborn twins, a boy and a girl. When her maternal grandfather’s family tries to take advantage of the situation and seize the Ruan family’s property, they slam her hard against a doorframe. That’s when she awakens memories of her past life and accidentally unlocks a golden finger that connects her to the modern world. With famine on the way, she frantically stockpiles food and quietly makes sure her family has enough to eat and stay warm. During three years of famine, while other families fight desperately over food, Ruan Mengqiu and her younger siblings quietly stay home and watch the show. Along the way, they also happen to save someone, bringing their family from six people to seven. After the famine, the whole family moves to the county seat. In 1962, with help from her golden finger, Ruan Mengqiu successfully gets into university. In 1966, the situation suddenly changes. What was coming has finally arrived. News spreads of universities shutting down, the college entrance exams being canceled, and educated youth being sent to the countryside. She barely manages to hold on to her job, but her two younger brothers have to interrupt their studies, while the other two never even get the chance to take the college entrance exams. See how the whole Ruan family manages to survive through this extraordinary era. P.S. The golden finger features heavily early on, but less so later.
