On my thirtieth birthday, a System appeared in my head.
It said it could help me turn my life around.
But I suspect it picked up the wrong script.
Other people's Systems: “Start with a billion, become a big shot in seconds, surrounded by beautiful women, ruling the world.”
My System: “Beginner's task: Cook yourself a bowl of longevity noodles. Remember to add an egg.”
“Today's goal: Don't be late for work, and don't yawn in the meeting.”
“Emergency warning: Your ex-girlfriend has appeared. Keep smiling, and don't say, ‘You've gotten fat!’”
My name is Li Jianguo. I'm thirty, an ordinary designer earning eight thousand a month. I have no car or house, and I've been single for two years.
On my birthday, something calling itself the “Thirty and Thriving Comeback System” bound itself to me.
I thought I was about to take off.
Instead, its first task was to clean my room and get rid of ten old belongings.
“System, other people's Systems give them money, houses, and superpowers. What do you give me?”
“This System focuses on improving your overall abilities, including but not limited to cooking, social skills, fashion sense, stress tolerance, and how to maintain your composure when faced with your ex-girlfriend's wedding invitation.”
“...Is any of this useful?”
“Data shows that 82% of the problems faced by men in their thirties stem from failing at the details of everyday life. Please start by cooking a good bowl of noodles.”
And so, under the System's “thoughtful” guidance, my thirties gradually went off track...
I wanted to take a meeting seriously: The System told me to notice the new hairstyle of the client and offer an appropriate compliment.
I wanted to go on a romantic date: The System signed me up for an “Art Appreciation Crash Course,” and I ended up holding forth about an abstract painting at the art museum
About "Counterattack": It turns out that real growth is learning to cook a bowl of non-salty longevity noodles The most subversive thing about this book for me is that it redefines "counterattack". Traditional cool novel: the protagonist is humiliated → gets a golden finger → gets slapped in the face like crazy → reaches the pinnacle of life. This book: The protagonist is thirty years old → Obtain the system → The system says "Go and clean the room first". But it is precisely this "anti-routine" that makes it the most realistic urban coming-of-age novel this year.
Earlier I saw that the studio was founded to design weddings, and then they were preparing to live together. What did Minghao become after that? Is it many years later? Is Minghao her ex-boyfriend or something? Is the previous plot over?
It's a very good book. It started out as an ordinary novel, with some creativity and I could read it. Gradually, the writing style became different and it became a reading book, slowly telling a story.
This is definitely a female writer. I saw, well, some people didn't like it.
