Lord Beiyan, the Judge and second-in-command of the Underworld, once took pity on a little ghost who had suffered terribly in life and sent her to be reborn into a wealthy family. She was supposed to be born into an ordinary household, but the man of that family was extremely biased against girls. The little ghost’s next life would have been full of hardship too. Remembering her own past life, Beiyan took pity on her and secretly changed the family she would be reborn into. The little ghost had been a great benefactor in her previous life, after all. Beiyan wouldn’t have risked punishment to do such a thing otherwise.
In the end, she broke the Underworld’s rules, and the King of Hell punished her by sending her to the mortal world to gain experience. She would have to accumulate enough merit before she could return to the Underworld as a judge.
But the King of Hell must have been so angry that he “forgot” to confiscate her judge’s brush. The brush was reborn in the mortal world along with her...
