A Farcical Tale of Qianlong’s Empress Who Cut Her Hair

My name is Huifan Nala Jingxian. I am the fifth-generation granddaughter of Wang Jichu, ruler of the Huifa tribe of the Haixi Jurchens, and a true daughter of a Manchu aristocratic family.

I was also the Qianlong Emperor's second empress, and the famous Hair-Cutting Empress of Qing history.

In the end, the Qianlong Emperor abandoned me. After I died of depression, they placed me in the underground palace of Su Jia, the Imperial Noble Consort Chunhui.

I didn't care. I had already sworn in front of Qianlong that we would never see each other again, alive or dead. I didn't want to be buried in his underground palace either, forced to accompany that heartless Han Chinese man even after death.

I admit that, at first, I loved the Qianlong Emperor deeply.

I was Qianlong's secondary consort when he was still a prince. Later I became Consort Xian, then Noble Consort Xian, then Imperial Noble Consort, and finally empress.

Even at an advanced age, I bore him children. I did so willingly, because I loved him.

But when I learned his secret, our relationship changed completely.

In the end, I cut my hair in despair and severed all ties with him. After I died, Qianlong erased every record of me.

As a result, no one knew whether my surname was Ula Nara or Huifa Nala, and I came to be called simply Nala.

Though he could erase my records and turn me into an empress “with nothing to her name,”

Today, I will speak up for myself and tell the whole story of Qianlong and me.

I'll also let everyone know what kind of man this Qianlong Emperor, who passed himself off as Manchu despite being Han, really was.

And I'll let everyone know the real me!
