Synopsis

The Day of the Disguised Beasts: A Plan to Erase Humanity's Understanding follows Lu Ming in an inverted world where “humans disguise themselves as beasts, while beasts infiltrate humanity.” He goes from an “ordinary student kept in the dark” to someone who “awakens supernatural powers, sees through disguises, and uncovers the truth about the world.” At the beginning of the novel, Lu Ming lives in “seemingly ordinary Qingteng City”: he goes to school every day, jokes around with his classmates, and listens to teachers tell the history of how “beasts were humanity's mortal enemies and have been completely wiped out.” But a series of strange incidents make him suspicious: his deskmate suddenly grows claws and claims they're “just a toy”; someone on the street transforms into a shadow and devours a stray cat in the dead of night; and his parents never speak of “the world beyond Qingteng City.” At first, because of his ingrained belief that “the world is safe,” he dismisses the anomalies as “illusions,” until he sees his teacher transform into a beast and hunt him down, completely shattering his “cognitive cocoon.” The core of this stage is “recognizing three kinds of cognitive-cocoon traps and developing a survival mindset that stays alert to anything out of the ordinary.” 1. “The Everyday Disguise Trap”: using “familiar daily settings” to hide “mortal danger” A key plot point in the book: Qingteng City's “safe zone” divisions seem to “protect humanity,” but are actually a “cage where beasts keep humans captive.” The “restricted zones” beyond the safe zone are not “beast nests,” but “refuges for a select few who have awakened.” Everything taught at school about “identifying beasts” is a lie. Real beasts can “perfectly imitate human appearance, voice, and even memories.” Their only tell is that “when emotionally agitated, they reveal ‘inhuman traits’ (such as changing pupils, skin floating

Looking for Stories That Obviously Look AI-Written, the More Ridiculous the Better

There are way too many AI writers nowadays, aren’t there? Not only is the barrier to entry low, but the quality is wildly inconsistent. I feel like they will squeeze many traditional writers out of their room to grow in the future. I guess writers will eventually have to emphasize at the beginning, “Not AI-generated, entirely written by hand.”
