Everyday Order Maintenance Bureau

The world runs according to a hidden order.

Mailboxes can have their hearts broken when they receive no love letters. Vending machines compete with wishing wells for the title of "Best Place to Make a Wish." Shelf sprites secretly arrange books into rainbows, while the mirror spirit at an amusement park searches for the childhood friend it lost.

Lin He’s job is to sort all this out.

As a field agent for the "Urban Everyday Order Maintenance Bureau," he lives by a simple work motto: bring a cup of milk tea, speak nicely, and anything can be settled. If that doesn't work, offer another packet of cookies.

Yet beneath the calm, undercurrents are stirring.

An expiring Urban Anomaly Coexistence Agreement, a memory box that has lain dormant for twenty years, and a string of anonymous text messages from the past all point to the same secret: Lin He himself is the city's greatest "anomaly."

When he starts receiving letters he wrote twenty years ago, when the mysterious race said to guard time appears once more, and when every clue points to the depths of his blank memory...

Lin He knows it's time to tackle the world's strangest crisis in the way he's always done: for instance, by first helping that gloomy Mr. Mailbox deliver a real letter.

What if Natsume's Book of Friends met Men in Black, then gently blended it all with a cup of Chinese milk tea? Welcome to a wondrous world where the anomalous and the everyday coexist.
