Showbiz: You Asked Me to Join a Dating Show, and I Handcrafted the Imperial Jade Seal

Su Yun, a 99-year-old national treasure and master of intangible cultural heritage, wakes up to find himself transformed into a “sissy” trainee hated by the entire internet.

His agency throws him into a wilderness survival dating show, hoping to make him look bad by comparison. Who knew the whole show would take an unexpected turn!

The other celebrities are busy manufacturing couples and hogging the spotlight.

Su Yun stands with his hands behind his back, goji berries steeping in his thermos. “Young people, you’re too weak. You need to exercise!”

The director asks him to pitch a tent. He thinks it’s ugly, so he builds a **[mortise-and-tenon palace]** in three days without using a single nail!

The director asks him to cook. He thinks the cookware is too crude, so he digs up clay, fires a kiln, and makes a set of **[Jian ware oil-spot teacups]**!

The director asks him to show off his talent. He thinks the songs are awful, so he plays **[A Hundred Birds Paying Homage to the Phoenix on the suona]** and sends every pig and sheep in the village running!

Haters: It’s scripted! It has to be scripted!

Then one day, to cheer up a crying young guest, Su Yun carves a long-lost **[Imperial Jade Seal]** with his bare hands and uses it to crack walnuts...

The director of the National Museum flies in by helicopter in the middle of the night, lands at the livestream site, and drops to his knees with a thud:

“Ancestor! Could I crack a walnut with that too?”

Experts from around the world are in despair. “Do all the entertainers in the Dragon Kingdom make walnuts (nuclear bombs) with their bare hands?!”

Su Yun spreads his hands helplessly. “I’m just a craftsman. I know a tiny bit about traditional culture. That’s perfectly reasonable, right?”
