Junior Brother of the Great Sage: This Journey to the West Isn't About Fetching Scriptures

My name is Hu Haotian. In one moment of despair in the twenty-first century, I chose to end it all.

I never expected that it wouldn’t be the end, but a plunge into the beginning of a myth. I became an obscure junior disciple in the Three Stars Cave of the Slanting Moon on Fangcun Mountain. I have a pocket dimension and can bring out things from the twenty-first century.

My senior brother is the Sun Wukong who will one day shake Heaven and Earth.

We stole immortal fruit from Bodhi’s back garden together and took beatings from our master’s discipline ruler together. As the days and seasons passed, our friendship quietly took root. Then one day, he somersaulted into the boundless sea of clouds to make his legend, while I continued to walk alone between the mortal world and the Dao.

Fate’s calamity struck without warning. The Celestial Court discovered that I was an “anomaly” and arrested me on the charge of “disrupting the Heavenly Dao.” On the Demon-Slaying Platform, a Thunder Department deity pronounced my sentence with solemn authority: “Hu Haotian, you wretched sinner! Cast him down to the mortal realm and condemn him to the animal realm for all eternity!”

At that critical moment, a familiar golden light tore through the nine layers of heaven!

That defiant figure, who stood above Heaven and Earth, landed before me, his Fiery Golden Eyes fixed on my face. Time seemed to stand still. The fury in his eyes slowly became incredulous shock, then his lips split into the familiar, arrogant yet warm grin I knew so well.
