The Three Kingdoms strategist Jia Xu is reborn in the body of Chen Wenhe, a down-and-out peddler, as Nanjing falls in 1937. Faced with a world even more brutal than the final years of the Han dynasty, he resolves to save his country with the cunning of a poison strategist. Guided by the belief that “in troubled times, use poison plots,” he struggles to survive amid the Japanese invaders, the Kuomintang, the underground resistance, and other forces. Using extreme methods to fight foreign enemies, he repeatedly turns the tide with ruthless schemes. Though he walks the edge of morality, his heart remains loyal to the Han people, and in the end he makes an irreplaceable contribution to victory in the War of Resistance.
